The GSR-SOM was established with a vision to produce world class music talent. The objective is to discover, nurture, provide experiential learning and accelerate their talent development. Music is an integral part of GIIS 9GEMS framework which provides for rich education in performing arts such as drama, dance and music

The GSR-SOM works on the principle of Mentorship. GIIS Students who are selected for this program will be mentored by Shekhar on a 1-on-1 basis. These personalised sessions giving individual attention to the students will bring out their best, encouraging their individual strengths. Each student has unique musical strengths and talent which may not be common to the rest. While the focus will be on individualized learning, there would be opportunities to participate in group workshops or master-class as well.

The selected students go through a personalised curriculum based on their strengths and individual learning capabilities. The GIIS music teachers who are already familiar with the students, then work with Sheykhar’s guidance to curate a dedicated and unique curriculum for each student.

The GSR-SOM programme will be offered on a yearly basis with new enrollments every year and selected students may continue over a longer duration.

This GSR-SOM programme is part of a give back to the community by GIIS & Sheykhar Ravjiani. Hence this program is absolutely free for any selected student. GIIS terms and conditions apply.

In the past, master classes were being held with Sheykhar at the GIIS campuses However, given the recent events and demand for virtual learning, GSR-SOM has also launched the online 1-on-1 mentoring sessions. These sessions will enable students to upskill and use their time more effectively while staying safe indoors.

The selection criteria includes clarity of fundamentals, delivery, method and audience engagement. Students will submit their entries with a sample of their music and the next round will be an interaction with Sheykhar. This is a merit-based mentorship programme where selection of the best candidates is done based on their potential and merit.

New batch intakes would be done once a year.

Yes, all mentoring classes would be aligned with the school academic calendar so there are no conflicts with the academic schedules of the student.

The GSR-SOM program is open to each and every student enrolled at any of the GIIS campuses in Japan, India, Singapore, Malaysia and UAE.

Every student at GIIS has an equal opportunity to enroll in the GSR-SOM and their selection is subject to meeting the GSR-SOM selection criteria.

This GSR-SOM is only open for the students studying at the GIIS schools. Students of other schools are required to enroll at any of the GIIS campuses.

Yes, upon completion of the program, the students would receive a certificate of participation from GIIS & Sheykhar Ravjiani. Outstanding students shall receive a certificate of commendation.

The program outcome for every student is to prepare them for a participation in the professional world of music. However this doesn't mean the student is required to join the music industry and may very well pursue their university education. The GIIS data analytics which is used to track and measure student performances in the 9GEMS areas of excellence for every student, will also be used for monitoring performance improvement in this program.

The students of GSR-SOM are not guaranteed with any opportunities. It depends entirely on the performance of the student or on the situation when an opportunity arises.

If these GSR-SOM students participate in “Global Indian Stars”, a premium inter school competition, then they will be exempted from the auditions and the initial rounds and may directly proceed to the 2nd round.

No this is not meant for students who only wish to seek a career in music. Students who wish to continue their university studies can also benefit from this program.

There are many aspects that contribute to getting admission in a good university. One of those aspects is demonstrated participation in extracurricular activities. The more the student can show a breadth and depth of knowledge in their chosen field the more it will help in better University Placements.

This program shall become a strong and meaningful evidence for students to showcase their all round development to the universities.
